The rules i need to follow are Validating the IBAN An IBAN is validated by converting it into an integer and performing a basic mod-97 operation (as described in ISO 7064) on it. Replace each letter in the string with two digits, thereby expanding the string, where A = 10, B = 11, ..., Z = 35 4. Check that the total IBAN length is correct as per the country. Move the four initial characters to the end of the string 3.The first 2 characters must be letter & the next 2 characters must be numbers. You may see more examples in the IBAN Examples page.It will check the length of the IBAN to confirm with the standard and performs mathematical checksum calculations and checking IBAN & BBAN structure in order to determine if the IBAN you entered is valid.

The IBAN validator supports all SEPA countries and banks. So what would be a proper way to validate the number? As the logic was explained in my other question I've tried to create a function myself.Based on the logic explained in the wikipedia article find a proper function below. Will it fit the Sorry, I can not yet comment due to low Rep, so the new link to user3733632s answer: https://github.com/globalcitizen/php-iban (the project is no longer hosted at google code as of March 2015, and the project will get a new version after some cleanup.) This library doesn't look too good. It's poorly architected - there is a class but it is not namespaced so it cannot be autoloaded. Move the four initial characters to the end of the string 4.

The IBAN validator will also decode and identify the country, bank/branch routing details, and bank account number.
